Abstract

998,030. Spouts for decanters. CORY CORPORATION. April 9, 1962, No. 13546/62. Heading A4A. A spout 14 for a decanter is made of substantially inelastic, flexible synthetic resin such as polypropylene and comprises a pouring lip 25 and an annular connecting portion 26 which carries flexible sealing means extending radially inwarly to seal the spout to the decanter neck 12. The decanter may be of glass and the portion 26 is deformed to fit the neck 12 by a split ring clamp 15 which carries a handle 16. The clamp has inturned flanges 34, 35 which co-operate with annular surfaces 27a, 18a on the spout and neck respectively, to seat a rim 28 of the spout on the rim 24 of the neck, a sealing ring 31 projecting from a recess 30 in the portion 26. In a modification, shown in Fig. 5, a flange 128 of the spout has an inturned tip 128a forming a seal against the rim 124 and the sealing ring is replaced by annular ribs 133 integral with the connecting portion 126 and which are distorted to form a resilient seal against the neck 112 during installation of the spout. The outer tip of the lip is acute to prevent the formation of drips.
