Abstract

1,267,257. Decanter. M.A. CURTIS. Nov.10, 1969 [June 20, 1969], No.54822/69. Heading A4A. A decanter comprises an attached handle 22 and spout 32, with a collar 20 engageable over the constricted neck of the vessel. The collar 20 is attached by means of a split locking ring 34 engageable about the neck under the beaded upper edge 16. Tongue 36 and diametrically opposed ear 40 attached to the ring engage a groove in the collar, and a downwardly opening recess in the handle, and are held there by a rivet or bolt 51. An annular gasket 30 is sealingly engaged between the collar shoulder 28 and the rim 16. The outside surface of the ring and inside surface of the collar are of complementary frusto-conical shape in order to provide clearance for pivotal movement of the arrangement during attachment and also to cam the outer surface of the ring radially inwards to form a tight fitting joint. The arrangement may be of moulded plastic, or moulded plastic incorporating a metal pouring spout.
