Abstract

<PICT:0996756/C3/1> A thermally insulated cabinet is formed by foaming a synthetic plastic 13, e.g. polyurethane, in contact with an outer sheet metal casing 12 and curing the foam by microwave power from a generator 20, the casing 12 forming a resonant cavity. A polystyrene inner liner 11 is supported on a fibreglass plug 15 and the cabinet is surrounded by a radiation shield 14. The casing 12 may be pre-heated.
