Abstract

1,009,332. Refrigerating. J. S. WHITE & CO. Ltd. Jan. 5, 1962 [Feb. 10, 1961], No. 5145/61. Heading F4H. In a cooling tray or other cooling unit comprises a metal plate in contact with passages for refrigerant, the plate and passages are encased in a moulded plastics material. In the tray shown, a steel plate 2 with a D-section convoluted refrigerant tube 3 clipped or welded thereto is sealed in plastics material such as resin-impregnated glass fibre, the plate having apertures (Fig. 2, not shown), through which parts of the plastics material on either side can be bonded together. The tray is manufactured by first placing one or more sheets of glass fibre 1 in a suitably shaped mould, then introducing the plate and tube and additional sheets 5 which become bonded to the sheets 1. A layer of insulating, e.g. foamed plastics, material 7 is then laid and further fibre sheets 8 are added which are bonded at their edges to the periphery of sheets 1 thus, forming a completely closed hollow casing which is cured by applying heat.
