Abstract

An evaporator assembly for use in a domestic refrigerator comprises an evaporator wholly enclosed by a jacket, one wall of which is a heat-conducting plate movable towards or away from the evaporator to vary the temperature within the refrigerator. As shown in the exploded Figure the evaporator plate 1 is mounted in a part 2 of the jacket and the heat conducting plate 3, which has fins 31, fits adjustably into the top of part 2. The jacket is completed by an ice-box 6 which has flanges 61 slidable in grooves 7 in part 2. Sealing strips 4, 9, 91 are provided between abutting parts and a pad 5 containing liquid anti-freeze is interposed between plate 3 and the evaporator.
