Abstract

1,182,971. Evaporator plates. ALFALAVAL A.G. 23 June, 1967 [2 July, 1966], No. 29127/67. Heading F4H. An evaporator plate, for use in the production of ice blocks 4, comprises two vertical identical copper walls 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP> secured together by welding 6, and previously formed, by stamping with protruberances on the top surfaces of which the ice blocks form. Square section strips 7 define a flow path for a cooling agent supplied and removed through nipples 8, within the space between the walls 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP>. A frame 9 is provided at the edges of the walls, over which is pulled an aluminium or plastics foil 10 which is then cemented to the top of the protruberances and at its free edges 11 to form a closed jacket enclosing spaces 13 between the protruberances, which spaces may be evacuated or filled with gas through a line containing a valve 12. In this way areas of poor heat conductivity are defined adjacent the copper protruberances.
