Abstract
996,445. Cable supports. BUNDY CORPORATION. Sept. 17, 1963, No. 36615/63. Heading H2C. An anchoring connector for a conductor comprises a tubular body member having an open end for receiving a conductor and a closed end with a small opening therein to receive the leg of legs of an anchor member which also pass through a plug in the tube so that the axial forces of the cable are transmitted to the plug. In one embodiment, Fig. 4, the legs 16 and 18 of the anchor member 14 are received in grooves 28 and 30 of the plug member 26, so that ends 32 and 34 engage the base of the plug member, which member is inserted into body 10, and the body is crimped below the position of the plug so that it cannot be removed. A tongue 12 is provided to attach the equipment to a connecting device (not shown). In a second embodiment, Figs. 2 and 5 (not shown), the plug is retained in the body by inserting a screw-threaded member into the tubular body which itself has previously been internally screw-threaded, and tightening the screw until the plug member is seated firmly against the closed end of the tube. In the final embodiment, Fig. 3, the anchor member is formed with only one leg 53, which flattens into a disc at its end remote from the actual supporting loop 14b. The plug is made in two halves 26c and 26d, each with a central groove to receive the leg 53. When the plug is assembled and the loop pulled to position 14bb the body member is crimped at 36b to retain the plug in the body 10b.
