Abstract

995,757. Edge-runner mills. PFEIFFER BARBAROSSAWERKE A.G. GEB. May 17, 1962 [May 20, 1961], No. 19099/62. Heading B2A. A mill comprises rollers 1 which co-operate with a rotatable grinding track 5 and are held in holders 25 arranged to be loaded on to the track by a spring-urged common pressure member 8 which is held substantially fixed against circumferential movement, the holders being connected to the pressure member by means including resilient components 36, 37 so as to permit limited movement of the rollers and their holders in the circumferential direction when jolted by material being ground. The pressure member 8 is urged by springs 6 which bear against a reaction ring 7 fixed in a housing 2. The resilient components, which are in the form of springs 36, 37, are spaced on each side of a ball pivot 31, the arrangement allowing the rollers and their holders to swing in a radial direction relative to the grinding track as well as in the circumferential direction. In a modification, the ball is dispensed with and the springs 36, 37 replaced by shock-absorber blocks. Specification 853,390 is referred to.
