Abstract

24,822. Johnson, J. Y., [Pfeiffer Geb.]. May 8. Roller-and-ring mills.-In a mill in which the grinding-ring is carried and driven by inner grinding-rings free to move radially and also axially or laterally, the ends of the shaft of the grinding roll or rolls are carried in bearings so supported from a cross-member fixed to the mill casing as to allow the bearings to move radially of the grinding ring or rings and axially with the grinding roll or rolls. Fig. 1 shows two contiguous rings 6 in a casing 7, and two rolls 2 mounted on a spindle 1 supported by helical springs 4, 5 from a transverse member 3 fixed to the casing; or the rolls may be supported by one or more plate springs 15, Fig. 3, adjustable links 16, 19 and 17, 20 being interposed between the spring 15 and the roll spindles 1.
