Abstract

25,471. Wall, E. A. Nov. 6. Roller mills. - Apparatus for crushing ores, rock, &c. comprises one or more pairs of rolls B, B<1> driven at high speed and provided with longitudinal ribs B<2>, which are angular in cross-section and wider at their outer edges, the ribs of one roll engaging between those of the other roll. The ribs are square-shouldered at their outer faces, and a shorter narrower rib B<3> is provided between each pair of the ribs B<2> and parallel therewith, so as to coact with the larger ribs when a fine product is desired. The yielding bearings of the roll B<1> are pressed towards the roll B by springs a<3> on guide-rods a<2>. The shafts b, b<1> of the rolls are geared together by long-toothed wheels, and the shaft b<1> is provided with a large driving-pulley C<1>. Specification 7051/11 is referred to.
