993,573. Metallurgical converters. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE. Oct. 10, 1962 [May 15, 1962], No. 38427/62. Heading F4B. A tiltable metallurgical converter has three supporting elements 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> mounting it on a horseshoe-shaped trunnion member 2 having trunnions 3. One supporting element 4 is located in the tilting plane of the converter and the angles between radial planes through the supporting elements are 120 degrees. The supporting elements comprise axle journals welded to the converter shell 1 and formed by frusto-conical parts 5 and rectangular section or cylindrical portions 6 which are supported in recesses 8 of the trunnion member 2. The two recesses 8 at the ends of the trunnion member 2 are open (see Fig. 3) so that a movable lifting device 11 may lift the converter and move it out of the trunnion member.
