890,462. Metallurgical converters. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE A.G. Feb. 27, 1959 [March 12, 1958], No. 7025/59. Class 72. A tiltable converter has a trunnion ring with two diametrically opposite trunnions extending round the body of the converter, the converter being supported on the ring by three pairs of right-angle brackets, one flange of each bracket being firmly attached to the converter body and the other engaging the upper or lower surface of the trunnion ring, two of the pairs of brackets being situated at the trunnions and the other on an axis crossing the trunnion axis preferably at a right angle. As shown, a converter body 1 has three pairs of right-angle brackets 4, 5, 6 attached thereto by one flange 4a, 5a, 6a, the other flange 4b, 5b, 6b engaging a trunnion ring 2 having trunnions 3. Guide rails 10 may be fixed to the trunnion rings adjacent the flanges and a fourth pair of brackets 7 may be provided which do not engage the trunnion ring but have guide rails 10.
