Abstract
992,990. Brassieres. G. W. H. STEVENS. Jan. 31, 1964 [Feb. 11, 1963], No. 5438/63. Heading A3V. A brassiere comprises one or more spring support members which can flex at any point in one plane which plane is rotated at a predetermined point along the length. A brassiere comprises cups a made of a base of monofilament mesh material encircled by spring members which are given a quarter turn under each cup. The springs may extend round the body and shoulder straps may be attached. The springs m, Fig. 2 may be twisted at n and be joined in a loop beneath the cups, which form part of a garment. Further springs p may also extend to the same loop. Each cup spring member may extend in a loop beneath each cup into a pocket in the garment supporting the cups. The spring may extend to the rear of the garment or may extend only part way round the cup. Each spring may comprise a strip of metal which is twisted along its length. The strip may be reinforced by adding other strips. The springs are enclosed in an outer plastics covering and curved.
