Abstract

990,835. Cartons. EX-CELL-O CORPORATION. March 29, 1963 [April 2, 1962], No. 12503/63. Heading B8P. In a four-sided carton having joined bottom closure flaps of the kind in which an opposite pair 26, 28 are creased so as to fold beneath the other pair 25, 27 as the latter are moved to closing position, the flaps 26, 28 have crease lines 35, 36, 41, 42 which intersect the hinge line 12 inwardly of the corners, the effect being that the walls 14, 16 are drawn towards each other at the base and that their lower edges lie within the margins of and are thus supported by the flaps 25, 27. The intersection of crease line 42 is further from its respective corner than the intersection of the other crease lines from their corners, to allow for the thickness of overlap of an extension 17. An extension 31 of the flap 25 tucks in beneath the flap 27 and the closure may be pressed against a mandrel and heated to activate an inner coating of heat-sealable material. The carton is stated to be suitable for liquids.
