Abstract

990,595. Spiked plates. G. A. PLANT. Feb. 5, 1964 [Feb. 13, 1963], No. 5796/63. Heading F2H. A plate-like member 1 for keying joinery to an adjoining wall is suitably profiled to provide a key when embedded in mortar and is spiked at one end to enable it to be driven into timber. As shown, the profiling comprises a rib 6 which provides a localized thickening and the turned-up flat end 7. In a modification the plate has a waist, the width increasing therefrom to the blunt end to provide a dove-tail shape. In another modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the plate is of cranked form for use in fixing a timber frame centrally within a cavity wall. A shoulder (or shoulders) is provided between the spikes to prevent excessive penetration.
