Abstract

990,331. Safety harness. DEUTSCHE AKADEMIE DER WISSENSCHAFTEN ZU BERLIN. April 8, 1964, No. 14499/64. Heading A3V. Vehicle safety belt comprises a shoulder strap in two woven sections, one section having a greater degree of elongation, preferably between 100% and 200%, being anchored to the vehicle adjacent to wearer's shoulder and stitched to the other section which has a lesser degree of elongation, preferably about 20%. As shown, one end of the more extensible section 2 is secured to an anchorage 4 by stitching 6 and the other end is stitched at 3 to the less extensible section 1, a tubular extension 1<SP>1</SP> of which forms a sheath around the section 2. The section 1 may be stitched to a buckle member 5 when the belt is associated with e.g. lap straps or the belt may be used alone. Suggested materials for both sections are regenerated viscose, polyamide or polyester fabrics.
