Abstract
1,225,446. Safety harness. J. T. POSEY. 12 Nov., 1969 [18 Dec., 1968], No. 55367/69. Heading A3V. A harness 10 for supporting a patient in a chair (24) comprises a first transverse strap 12 having loops 20 at each end, each loop adapted to fit over one of two rearwardly projecting handles (23), thistlecloth material of "hook" or "pile" type (25) on both the loops and the handles to adhere them together, a V-shaped shoulder piece 16 with two belts 26 joined at an apex 28, a portion 21 of each remote from the apex being secured to the first transverse strap, and a second transverse strap 14 connected to the apex 28 its ends 40 being securable to the chair. The second transverse strap is connected to the apex 28 by a centre piece 18 with a plurality of openings 32 through any one of which the second transverse strap may pass thus giving an adjustable distance between it and the apex of the shoulder piece. Thistle-cloth material of a first type is secured to the loops 20 and that of a second type to the handles 23. The first transverse strap has a first section 45 and a second section 46 and its length adjustment is effected by having a rectangular ring 47 secured in one end of the first section, the second section having a layer of thistie-cloth material of a first type (48A) on an end portion of one side of the section with a second type of thistle-cloth material (49) on the same side as and remote from the first layer (48A), such that the second section may be passed through the ring and then folded on itself to lock the two layers where desired.
