Abstract
990,038. Fluid control valves. BRAKESHOE INTERNATIONAL S.A. April 5, 1962 [April 13, 1961], No. 13125/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division G3] A fast response valve is formed by bodies 20 of various sizes, shapes and conduit fittings but all having the same size vertical cylindrical base 21 leading to a lower inlet 22-equivalent to that necessary for the valve carrying the greatest flow-containing a liner 33 ported at 36 for connection to an outlet 23 via a bore recess 32 and a spring-loaded piston valve 37 seating at its lower end on a sleeve shoulder 35, the top of the body being flat and containing the bore opening and two passages 25, 57 loading to the inlet and outlet respectively and receiving one of several kinds of central valve body. As shown inlet pressure acts via restriction 31 in passage 25 on a plunger 62 having a restriction 70 loading via orifice 55 to the rear chamber 45 of the piston valve whereby the spring and the equal pressure on both sides of inlet 37 hold it closed. Inlet pressure above a certain value moves plunger 62 to the right to open cone valve 74, adjustably loaded at 65, from its seat 63 and relieves pressure in chamber 45 whereby valve 37 opens as a relief valve. The plunger 62 may have side ports which are closed as it moves into its guide 61, passage 57 being blocked and an outlet formed to the right of valve 64. The plunger may be solid and respond to a central pressure-other than inlet-with the inlet connected to passage 25 being blocked, so that the valve acts as an unloader. In this case inlet pressure reaches valve chamber 45 via a restriction in plug 41. For low pressure valves, the plunger 62 is dispensed with.
