[Also in Divisions B7 and F4] In a circuit for passing coolant from a vehicle engine to an air heating heat exchanger, a valve 151 controls the proportions of coolant flowing to the heat exchanger through a duct 136 from a duct 134 leading from the engine and from a recirculation duct 137 from the exchanger. The valve is carried by a stem 150 attached to a disc 157 moving in a pressure cylinder 142<SP>1</SP>. Movement of the disc 157 is effected by a bellows 155 attached to the disc 157 and to a sealing disc 156. The gap 158 between the bellows 155 and the cylinder 142<SP>1</SP> containing a temperature-sensitive fluid so that as the temperature of the coolant passed through the duct 136 to the heat exchanger rises the valve 151 is depressed against a spring 145 to increase the proportion of recirculated coolant from the duct 137. A guide pin 144 is fastened to the pressure cylinder 142<SP>1</SP> and is used to select a required heat exchange temperature by means of a lever 162 having a spring 161 bearing on the pin 144. The fluid in the gap 158 is in communication through a bore 159 and a duct 160 connected to a temperature sensing means associated with the passenger compartment of the vehicle to give further automatic control of the heat exchanger temperature.
