989,723. Track circuit signalling system. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Nov. 6, 1961 [Nov. 15, 1960], No. 39153/60. Heading B7N. In a signalling system for controlling the passage of rail vehicles over a single stretch of track bounded by track circuit section AT, BT and including two normally energized relays 2SR, 3SR each associated with one direction of movement and a normally released master relay 1SR, the relevant direction relay, relay 2SR assuming left to right movement, is released when the route is set up and the master relay is picked up when the train enters the second track circuit BT and restoration of a route setting relay 1LR and disengaging signal stick relays ATSR, BTSR is prevented until the directional relay 2SR is re-energized via a circuit which includes a front contact of the master relay and a front contact of relay BTPR which is picked up when track section BT is vacated. Assuming left to right movement, route setting relay 1LR is reversed and releases relay 2SR. When the train enters section AT, track repeater relay ATPR releases and deenergizes disengaging signal repeater relay ATSR. The apparatus remains in this condition until the train enters track section BT when relay BTPR releases and energizes relay 1SR and releases relay BTSR. When the train leaves section BT, relay BTPR picks up and re-energizes relays 2SR and ATPR, approach locking relay ALSR is now energized and switches route setting relay 1LR to normal. Master relay 1SR now releases and the disengaging signal stick relays are re-energized.
