950,185. Traffic control systems. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Nov. 16, 1960 [Nov. 27, 1959], No. 40411/59. Heading B7N. In the event of an emergency or for maintenance purposes, the rail traffic through a track network normally controlled from a central office is controlled from a local panel comprising control changeover means and manual control means for each element in the network and the same all-electric interlocking arrangements are used for both types of control. The local area, Fig. 1, comprises signal 1 and points 5, 6 controlling routes 1(1), 1(2) and 1(3). The local panel includes a control changeover switch by which a relay LZR (not shown) is switched to its normal position when local control is taken, three position switches for points 5, 6 each of which must be in a central position when local control is taken and which also control associated points control relays 5WLR and 6WLR (not shown) to their normal and reverse positions and a signal switch, which, when operated to its reverse position to clear signal 1, energizes a relay RR (not shown). Assuming route 1(1) has to be set up from the local panel, points control relays 5WLR and 6WLR are switched to their normal and reverse positions respectively and the signal switch is set to reverse. A route locking relay 1(1) RLR, Fig. 4, is reversed via normal and reverse contacts of relays 5WLR and 6WLR, a front contact of relay RR and a normal contact of relay LZR. Signal 1HR, Fig. 6, is then cleared via normal contacts of points control relay 5WLR and points detection relay 5KR, reverse contacts of points control relay 6WLR and points detection relay 6KR, a reverse contact of route locking relay 1(1) LR, a front contact of relay RR and a normal contact of relay LZR. When controlled from the central office the front contact of relay RR and the normal contact of relay LZR, forming part of the above traced circuits, are shunted by the front contact of a relay which is energized when the control is remote and a reverse contact of relay LZR.
