Abstract

988,792. Screw conveyers. EDWIN DANKS & CO. (OLDBURY) Ltd. Aug. 28, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1962], No. 30923/61. Heading B8A. Fuel is fed from bunker 10 into the hopper 32 of a furnace conveyer 34 by means of screw 4. Screw 4 is contained in casing 6 and is suspended at 28 so that it may be given a to and fro movement. This movement, Fig. 2, is effected by chain 40 which is driven through sprockets 42 and 44 from motor 49 which also drives the screw 4. Chain 40 is carried by sprockets 42 and 44 which are carried by framework 50 carried rigidly by sleeve 52 mounted upon casing 6. A link of chain 40 is secured at 56 to rod 54 fixed at 51. Motor 49 driven unidirectionally thus gives a rotary movement to screw 4 whilst giving a reciprocating movement to casing 6.
