Abstract

988,352. Textile treating apparatus. C. VALLS. March 23, 1964 [March 26, 1963], No. 12256/64. Heading D1L. A method of treating textile fibres, in yarn, fabric or flock form, comprises moving them through a first channel, passing fluid through the first channel and in contact with the fibres, and passing fluid from the first channel into one end of of an auxiliary channel and from the other end of the auxiliary channel back into the first channel at a point adjacent the fibres and with a component of velocity at right angles to the fibres. In the arrangement shown, web 5 is caused to travel, preferably upwards, through a treatment chamber through which treatment fluid flows in a downward direction. The flow path of the treatment fluid comprises a main channel 3 leading into a pair of auxiliary channels 1 and 2 and also a central channel 4 through which the web 5 passes. The downstream exits of channels 1 and 2 are so formed that the fluid leaving these channels will have a component of velocity at right angles to the textile web in order to improve the action of the fluid on the web. Preferably the angle between the web and the exit of the channels 1 and 2 is greater than the angle between the web and the entrances of said channels. The channels may be arranged assymetrically and several auxiliary channels may be provided to increase the efficiency of the treatment.
