1,018,570. Textile treating apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK FRIEDRICH HAAS G.m.b.H. March 18, 1964 [March 19, 1963], No. 11332/64. Heading D1L. [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for aerating webs of material 5 fed in vertical loops over guide rollers 3, 4 comprises fans 8 and 10 mounted in chambers to provide streams of air passing through heaters 9, 12 to perforated nozzles 6, 13 projecting into the upwardly and downwardly open loops of material respectively. The heated air flows substantially parallel to the loops 11 of material and is drawn therefrom by the fan feeding the adjacent nozzles to achieve recirculation of air. The arrangement is duplicated, using fans 16, 17 in heater chambers. Several embodiments are described utilizing nozzles which extend to greater or lesser distance between the loops of material and nozzles of differing design are disclosed, e.g. having perforated or slit nozzles extending over the full width of the material, of narrow, trapezoidal tapering crosssection, having adjustment members within the nozzles to regulate the flow of air from outlet slits spaced from one another and directed towards the material, or having stationary prismatic deflecting members positioned at a distance from the exit end of each nozzle. A friction drive arrangement of endless belt pulleys is described with reference to Fig. 7 (not shown).
