Abstract

1,203,680. Drying webs. VEPA A.G. 18 Nov., 1968 [28 Nov., 1967], No. 54573/68. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] A continuous length of material is dried by passing it in zig-zag manner over two parallel rows of rollers 5 in a treatment chamber 4, air being withdrawn from the chamber between the rows, heated, and recycled into the chamber between the rollers of each row by means of at least one variable-speed centrifugal fan 7 in a fan chamber 3 which also contains heater elements 8. Chambers 4 and 3 are separated by a partition 2 containing a suction duct 9 having a partition 10 with variable openings. The air is returned to chamber 4 through jet plates 6 having variable openings. Further heating elements may be provided in spaces 13.
