Abstract
987,509. Filing papers. TRADE LOOSE LEAF CO. Ltd. March 18, 1964 [Feb. 9, 1963], No. 5382/63. Heading B6E. In a loose leaf binder wherein the sheets are threaded on flexible fasteners comprising prongs which are themselves located and retained between outer covers, each fastener 15 is a flexible brass or other strip initially bent to U-shape, and the arms 16 thereof are passed through two apertures 17 in the front cover 10, then pressed together to pass through a single hole in the leaves 14 and the rear cover, and the ends of the arms are then bent over to lie flat on the rear cover. The covers 10, 11 are formed from a single piece of cardboard which is folded near the centre to provide double thickness flanges 12, 13 between which the leaves 14 are held. The single apertures in the flange 13 of the rear cover 11 have circular metal eyelets 19 fitted therein. The ends of the arms 16 of each fastener 15 are tapered at 20 to facilitate entry into the eyelets 19, and have notches 21 which, when the arms are straight, can engage the eyelets as shown in Fig. 4 so that the binder may be maintained in a partially open position to facilitate full inspection of the leaves 14.
