Abstract

987,132. Filters and coalescers. FAUDI FEINBAU G.m.b.H. March 26, 1962 [March 28, 1961], No. 11384/62. Heading B1D. A two-stage apparatus for separating water and solid particles from a liquid hydrocarbon, e.g. fuel oil, comprises a horizontal elongated casing 1, Fig. 1, housing a contaminated liquid inlet 5 at a closed end 3, an inlet chamber bounded by said end 3 and a vertical transverse partition 4, a plurality of inward flow coalescing elements 6 extending horizontally from the partition 4 and held by screwed rods 7 extending throughout their lengths, and a plurality of inward flow vertical separating elements 9 supported in a perforated cylindrical housing 10 adjacent a removable end cover 2. The upper end plate of the housing 10 is held against a filtrate outlet 13 by a screwed spindle 14, Fig. 2, engaging an insert 15 of outlet 13 and when in the released position said housing 10 and filter elements 9 may be slid along fixed guide rails 12 towards the open end of the casing 1. The elements 6 are also supported by guide rods 8.
