Abstract
1524057 Settling apparatus REDERIAKTIEBOLAGET NORDSTJERNAN 26 Nov 1975 [29 Nov 1974] 48672/75 Heading BID Apparatus for separating from a liquid phase a suspended on emulsified component which is lighter than the liquid phases e.g. oil from water, comprises a tank containing a plurality of inclined guide plates 1 defining separation spaces 5 into which the suspension is fed for upward flow therein whereupon the lighter component flows as a stream adjacent to each upper plate and the liquid phase flows as a stream adjacent each lower plate, pockets 4 at the top ends of the guide plates and opening downwardly into the separation spaces to capture one of the lighter component or liquid phase streams (the latter in Fig. 1 but the former in Fig 4 not shown) and means to feed the captured stream to a collector 2 having an outlet 10 arranged to maintain a predetermined level of separated component therein. The other phase may be similarly fed to a collector 7 therefore with level-maintaining discharge 9. The outlet 9 for the lighter component is suitably arranged above that 10 for the liquid phase. Incoming suspension may be supplied from below the plates or at an intermediate level in the separation spaces. Reference is made to Specifications 1219982 and 1343061.
