Abstract
985,410. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. Sept. 23, 1963 [Sept. 25, 1962], No. 37282/63. Heading H2A. In a totally enclosed machine in which the internal air is circulated over axial cooling tubes 6 carrying a flow of external air and situated in a concentric ring or rings round the stator, the cooling tubes are sealed at both ends of the casing into punched laminated segments 7 which are bolted up on to a packing 8. These segments replace the conventional solid ring and facilitate the formation of variously shaped holes for variously shaped tubes. The laminations may be secured by spot-welding and the tubes sealed by solder or hardening plastic, only at one end if desired.
