Abstract
984,155. Wash basins. SHIRES & CO. (LONDON) Ltd. Dec. 2, 1963 [Sept. 3, 1962], No. 33676/62. Heading A4N. A wash basin, or the like, comprises a bowl 10 removably supported on a support 11, which carries a drain passage 18 having a drain connection which mates with a port in the bottom of the bowl to form a water tight seal, and water supply passages 16, 17 incorporating valves 19, the bowl 10 being readily removable from the support 11 without the necessity for first uncoupling any plumbing connections. A valve 19 may also be incorporated in the drain passage 18 and the valves may be electrically controlled by push buttons or foot pedals. The supply passages 16, 17 may mate with ports in the bottom of the bowl 10 and direct jets of water upwards into the bowl, Fig. 1, or the ports may communicate with passages in the bowl 10 and lead to an outlet adjacent the upper part of the bowl, (Fig. 2, not shown), or the passages may open above the top of the bowl and discharge water directly into it. An overflow pipe may be provided or the water supply valves 19 may be electrically controlled in accordance with the head of water, by a pressure responsive device in the outlet pipe or by the weight of water in a U-shaped overflow pipe.
