983,919. Motor vehicles. MORE WEAR INDUSTRIES (RHODESIA) (PRIVATE) Ltd. Oct. 1, 1962 [Oct. 6, 1961], No. 37188/62. Headings B7D and B7H. A motor vehicle for carrying comminuted materials in mining, quarrying or earth-moving operations comprises a trailer unit 7 provided with steerable wheels 9 and having a forwardly projecting cradle 8 to which is attached a tractor with its front wheels removed. The cradle 8 comprises a rear anchorage structure which is pivoted about a longitudinal axis in bearings 22 on a frame 14 and attached to the rear axle and the underside of the tractor at points 27, 28, and a front anchorage structure which is pivotally mounted on a pin 19 on the frame 14 and attached to the tractor by brackets 17. Shock absorbers 32 extend between the frame 14 and an upright 24 on the rear anchorage structure to cushion pivotal movement between the tractor and the trailer 7. A linkage 29 connects the steering mechanism of the tractor with the steerable wheels 9. A tipping bin 11 on the trailer 7 is elevated by a ram 13 controlled from the tractor. In another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) both anchorage structures are pivoted on a shaft projecting forwardly from the trailer 7.
