[Also in Division F2] A support structure for a lighting element or working platform comprises one, two, or more extensible poles 9, guys 29, and a mechanism for simultaneously controlling the extension of the pole and the guys so that the latter remain taut. This mechanism consists in the motor 18 which raises the pole 9, and further motors controlling the guys 29, being linked to a model reproduction of the pole and guy assembly housed in a container 20. This model simulates the state of the structural pole, controls the tension in the guys, and may be used to tilt the structural pole using a control 63. The pole 9 as shown comprises interfitting connected tubular elements 10 which are fed from a container 15 up through a cage 36. An alternative construction comprises U- sectioned iron elements hinged and able to be locked together. In an embodiment the elements are delivered by a conveyer to a position under the cage 36 and are then mechanically fitted together and raised. Gear racks may be provided on the sides of the elements so that they may be raised by toothed wheels and belts. The structure may be mounted on a vehicle.
