Abstract

982,976. Induction flowmeters. GEORGE KENT (STROUD) Ltd. May 16, 1961 [May 20, 1960], No. 17799/60. Heading G1N. A ring electrode for an insulating tube is clamped between two porions of an internal insulating sleeve of the tube, connection to the electrode being made through the wall of the tube. Two such electrodes 6, Fig. 1, provide earthing points symmetrically disposed about the two diametrically opposed electrodes 9, and magnet 15, of an induction flowmeter. The tube portions 7 and 8 threaded into the tube 1 clamp the chamfered electrodes 6 between, and flush with the inner surface of, sections 3 and 4 and 4 and 5 respectively of a plastic sleeve, forming a liquid-tight seal around the electrodes. Electrostatic screening is provided by copper sheets 13 and 12, which latter is mounted on the studs 10 which constitute the connections to electrodes 6. To earth the apparatus without the formation of earthed loops, earthed plate 12 is connected to plate 13, to the end sections 7 and 8, and to the metal frame of the detector head, in each case by a single wire, and thin insulating plates can be inserted between the polepieces 15 and the screening plate 12 and 13 respectively.
