Abstract
981,785. Roofing structures. KELSEY ROOFING INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 3, 1963 [July 3, 1963], No. 26420/63. Heading E1V. [Also in Division B5] Roof panels 1 Fig. 2 of expanded plastics material, e.g. polyvinylchloride, exteriorly faced with sheet metal 8 e.g. aluminium, are engaged at opposite edges in opposed grooves of section bars 3 which extend from ridge to eaves and are secured upon purlins 14; Fig. 2. At the lower edge of a panel, as mounted in the roof, the sheet metal is extended to overlap the next lower panel in the roof structure. The said next lower panel may or may not be reduced in thickness in the region of the overlap as shown respectively on the right-and left-hand sides of Fig. 2. The sheet metal 8c of each of the lowest panels in the roof structure, is extended to form a flashing 15, the gaps between the flashing formation on adjacent panels on opposite sides of the bars 3 being bridged by flashing members shown in Fig. 4 which have a bifurcated limb 17 to straddle the central web of the bar 3 and to enter the panels between the plastics material and sheet metal 8c. The lower face of each panel is faced with sheet metal and/or accoustics material. When faced on both sides with metal sheet, both metal sheets may be extended beyond one of the edges of the plastics material to form a space adapted to receive an edge portion of another panel at which the facing sheets have been pressed closer together. Mastic composition is applied to panel edges where indicated at 10, 11 and 12. Some of the panels may be replaced by glass sheets.
