Abstract
The invention comprises metallized azo dyes wherein one atomic proportion of chromium is linked to two molecular proportions of different monoazo dyes of which one is of formula <FORM:0981349/C4-C5/1> and the other is of formula <FORM:0981349/C4-C5/2> which dye is free from carboxyl groups not in ortho-position to the azo group and is free from sulphonic acid groups and wherein D is an ortho-phenylene residue, A is a coupling component linked in vicinal position to an enolized or enolizable keto group and n is 1 or 2. The dyes are prepared by reacting a 1:1-chromium complex of the dye of formula (1) with an equimolar proportion of dye (2). The dyes may be used to colour nitrogenous materials such as synthetic polyamide, polyurethane or polyacrylonitrile fibres, silk, leather and especially wool in brown to olive shades. The preparation of the mixed complexes is described in examples.
