Abstract

[Also in Division H1] Means for holding a scissor blade in position during a sharpening operation prior to its assembly with another blade comprises a holder 10 having a projecting peg 18 which is a push fit in the pivot hole of the blade, a support 20 for a portion of the blade remote from the hole, and at least one magnet 12 for retaining the blade on the holder. The holder consists of a length of angle iron carrying the peg 18 and support 20 which extend between the polepieces of respective permanent magnets 12, 14. The polepieces of the magnet 14 extend further from the holder than do those of the magnet 12 so that when a blade is mounted on the peg 18 and swung towards the magnet 14 and support 20, the blade has to be " sprung " on to the magnet 14. The holder is movable along rollers 26 or guides so that the surface of a blade carried by the holder can be hollow ground by a grinding wheel 24. The pegs may be vertically adjustable on the holder. In another embodiment, the support 20 is in the form of a cam which is adjustable to vary the inclination of the scissor blade.
