Abstract
980,945. Machine tool details. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. Feb. 9, 1961 [Feb. 13, 1960], No. 4923/61. Heading B3B. An indexing table assembly includes a wedge 13 for clamping the table downwardly against the pressure of a spring 20. The wedge consists of an annular split ring which is compressed by a pin 16 moved axially by an eccentric 17 rotated by a handle 19. Movement of the handle in the opposite direction rotates the table through gearing 22, 23 and a one-way ratchet drive 24. Rotating with the table is a series of index plates 25 with one of which a plunger 33 is engaged by adjusting a slide 27 vertically by rack-and-pinion gearing actuated by a graduated hand-knob 32. When the table is unlocked, a projection 36 releases the plunger from a recess by means of a pawl 34. Further movement of the handle moves the pawl against a releasing pin 37 causing the plunger to be free to enter the next recess. Lost motion of the handle 19 is permitted relatively to the table by a spring drive 40 and a pin 39. The handle 19 may be pneumatically or hydraulically activated.
