Abstract

In means for resiliently mounting a motor vehicle body 23 to a chassis frame 10 an axial extension 13 of a rubber ring 12 is engaged within an aperture 11 in the frame 10 and the sleeve 15 of a part A is passed through the ring 12 and through another rubber ring 17 on the underside of the frame 10 a radial flange 14 on the part A bearing upon the upper face of the ring 12. A complementary securing part B, with a pair of diametrically-opposed inwardlyextending tongues 27 pressed out from the base of a lower thickened portion 20a of a sleeve 19, is introduced into the sleeve 15 so that a head flange 18 engages beneath the ring 17. The parts A, B are then pressed together, e.g. by a pressure of 500 p.s.i., until a lip 16 at the lower end of the sleeve 15 abuts the flange 18 of the part B whereupon a tool 28 is inserted into the sleeve 19 of the part B to force the tongues 27 outwardly which results in the fracturing of the walls of the sleeve portion 20a to form outwardly-directed projections 20 which lockingly engage the lip 16. After the tool 28 has been withdrawn the rings remain in compression and the body 23 can be secured by a bolt 25 which, with the interposition of washers 24, threadedly engages a screw-threaded restricted portion 21 of the sleeve 19 of the part B. In a modification, Fig. 6, (not shown) the sleeve 15 of the part A diverges inwardly at its lower end to provide additional strength.
