1,044,537. Bolts; nuts; anchor-nuts; locking bolts and nuts. T. DZUS, F. X, CLARKE, and D. H. KANE. June 19; 1963 [Sept. 11, 1962]. No. 24419/63. Addition to 943,377. Heading F2H. A but 51 with a flange 63 having apertures by which the nut may be secured to a plate 65, e.g. by rivets, Fig. 1 (not shown), has an undercut thread 67 to receive the complementary thread on a screw 50 which has at least one diametral slot 59 so that the screw segments thus formed are urged radially outwards if the nut and screw are urged axially apart. Tight-screwing of the screw, for example, is said to cause the complementary threads to draw together with a wedge action. To prevent the screw-thread being permanently constricted inwardly, a ring 61 is held frictionally in an end recess 60 in the screw 50.
