Abstract

979,904. Valves. ALFA-LAVAL CO. Ltd. Oct. 16, 1963 [Oct. 16, 1962], No. 39100/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division A1] A drain valve for a milking installation comprises a hollow body 1 on to which is threaded a tubular spout 2 rotatable manually to bring a valve member 5 into and out of sealing contact with the bore 3 of the body 1. The valve member 5 is in the form of a stainless steel ball and is pressed against its seating 4 by means of a dowel 6 secured in the spout 2, the ends of the dowel projecting to provide a handle for rotating the spout. A nut or cap 7 is threaded on to the spout 2 and abuts a shoulder 8 on the body 1 to prevent excessive downward movement of the spout relative to the body.
