A screw lift valve has a hollow valve member 2 slidably mounted in a valve body 1, 3, and an adjustable abutment rod 7 so arranged inside the hollow valve member as to limit the lift thereof, a seal 9 being interposed between the valve member and the valve body, this seal being arranged in a position intermediate the closure portion of the valve member and elements which guide the valve member in its sliding movement. The end 2b of the valve member is hexagonal and is guided in a correspondingly shaped part 3a of the body part or cover 3. A screwed rotatable spindle 4 engages the valve member internally and carries within it the adjustable rod 7 which is also screwed.
