979,886. Cigarette-making machines. K. KÍRBER. May 14, 1962, No. 18460/62. Heading A2C. In apparatus for producing a continuous tobacco rod, tobacco fibres 22 are showered on to a conveyer belt 3 by a distributer 1 which includes a worm 2 for aligning and deflecting the tobacco fibres. The aligned fibres are removed from the belt 3 by a spiked drum 7 and, after passing over a guide roller 8 and guide 9, are showered by a roll 10 on to a strip 11 of wrapper material, which is supported on an endless belt 13, for formation into a continuous rod. The belt 3 is arranged at least partially below the distributer 1 and may be perforated as at 6a, for co-operation with a suction chamber 5 or may be provided with spikes.
