Abstract

979,796. Weed extractors. G. H. I. CORNWELL. Jan. 11, 1963 [Oct. 12, 1961], No. 36668/61. Heading A1B. A finger tool comprises a cylindrical or part cylindrical body portion adapted to grip the finger of the user by resilient means and a tool portion comprising a weeding implement, extending from one end of the body. The body 10 is formed of synthetic plastics material and is provided with a number of internally extending ridges or projections. Thickened wall portions 12, 13 of the body are apertured at 14 to receive a wire rod 15 having ends which extend outwardly from one end of the body, the extremities 17 being bent up to provide a weeding part of the tool. At the other end of the body the wire forms a U-shape loop 16 to which a cord may be attached and then mounted round the wrist of the user. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the weeding tool is formed by a metal clip having upstanding lugs, the clip being mounted on the cylindrical body. In another modification the upstanding lugs are moulded integrally with the body. In another modification the body is part cylindrical and is formed from a steel pressing in one piece with the tool. In another modification the weeding tool is formed from a single length of spring wire the body being formed as a coil. In another modification the tool is adapted to be mounted on two fingers.
