Abstract

978,699. Gas heaters; tube supports. ESCHER WYSS A.G. Sept. 3, 1963 [Sept. 3, 1962], No. 34805/63. Heading F4S. In a heat exchanger for heating a gas, for example, the gaseous working medium of a thermal power plant, the gas to be heated flows through a number of parallel tubes 1 surrounding a combustion chamber 2 and extending between annular distributing and collecting headers 3, 4 which lie in planes perpendicular to the tubes, the tubes being supported between the headers by at least one ring of tubing, e.g. 7, to which the tubes 1 are fixed. Each ring is formed of segments, e.g. 7<SP>1</SP> &c., each segment being connected to the adjacent segment and being connected to the distributer and collector header by supply and discharge tubes 9<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>1</SP> &c., which are disposed parallel to the tubes 1. A connecting element 13 comprising two ducts is welded between two adjacent segments, connecting one to a supply tube and the other to a discharge tube. Alternatively, the segments may be formed by dividing a continuous ring tube by walls. Again a supply tube, segment and discharge tube may be formed from a continuous tube, the segments being connected by welding. The tubes 1 are arranged in a ring as shown (Fig. 2) and the segments and preferably the supply and discharge tubes are situated outside this ring. The segments may have larger internal diameter and wall thickness than the other tubes and the supply and discharge tubes may have larger internal diameter than the tubes 1.
