Abstract

977,244. Valves. CRANE Ltd. June 14, 1963, No. 23773/63. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a casing 1, Fig. 1, having inlet and outlet passages 2, 3 opening into a flat surface of the casing. A valve bonnet 8 is provided with a flat surface and a valve plate 7 is clamped between these two surfaces. The valve plate has two orifices 21, 22 corresponding to the passages and a conical valve seat 25, 26 is provided in each orifice whereby the plate may be repositioned to provide a new seat when one is worn. Seats may also be provided on the opposite side of the valve plate. The valve closure 12 is carried by a spindle 9 and a thrust washer 15 is provided between the closure and the end of the spindle. As shown in Fig. 3, the valve may be converted to a non-return valve by removing the bonnet and closure member and replacing these members with a valve closure 28 and housing part 27. A vent 31 is provided to the outlet 4.
