Abstract

1,243,553. Valves. ROTO-DISC VALVE CO. 1 Nov., 1968, No. 51951/68. Heading F2V. A valve has a disc 12 mounted on an axle 13 and rotatable by a gear 14 to vary the flow through a passage 11. The disc has a tapering port 31 which when in the position shown allows full flow. The smaller port portion is provided with a plurality of orifices 39 tapering outwards in the direction of flow and providing an auxiliary flow to prevent cavitation when the disc is in flow restricting position. Alternatively a plurality of different size ports may be provided in the disc, the smaller ones being surrounded by orifices in an area equal to that of the largest port.
