Abstract

976,640. Flexible pipes. W. T. MINETT. Jan. 30, 1963 [Oct. 31. 1961], No. 38845/61. Heading F2P. A flexible tube 2 contains at least one longitudinally disposed bendable wire 10 having a stiff action so as to retain the tube in any position to which it is bent. As illustrated a coolant pipe 1 for use in a machine tool is secured at one end to a mounting stem 4 and at the other to a nozzle stem 7 the tube at each end being firmly held by an external ferrule. The wire 10 of round, flat or other crosssection is anchored at one end by soldering or brazing at 11 in the nozzle. The free end of the wire 10 is flattened or provided with a tongue 12 sliding in the mounting stem 4. The wire may be kinked or of wavelike form. The wires may be situated externally of the pipe and in other modifications may carry electrical wiring.
