976,283. Overhead conveyers. BAGSHAWE & CO. Ltd. Aug. 15, 1961 [May 19, 1961], No. 41223/63. Divided out of 948,950. Heading B7L. An indexing station for a conveyer having trollies 23, 27, 30, 32, 34 driven by a chain 21 through pairs of dogs 26, has a plurality of indexing positions, each position having (a) a pivoted arm 42 which is deflected, through counter-weight roller 43, by a trolley leaving the position, (b) a ramp 49 which is raised without raising chain 21 to lift the driving dogs 26, through roller 50, out of engagement with the front and rear of the trolley part 23, and (c) a stop 53 which is moved into the path of the trolley at the station, the arm 42, ramp 49 and stop 53 being operated simultaneously through linkage 45, 46, 47, 51, 52, the roller 43 biasing the linkage to retract ramp 49 and stop 53, a latch 54 engages a lever 55 fast with arm 42 to hold the linkage &c. in the set position in which a trolley entering an indexing position is stopped, the latch being released by an electromagnetic actuator 57 in all indexing positions except the most forward whereat the latch is released manually; a switch in every position, but the last, i.e. the most rearward, which is momentarily closed by deflection of arm 42 by a trolley leaving the position whereby the actuator 57 at the next preceding indexing position is actuated to release the next truck from said preceding position. The switch is actuated by deflection of arm 42 when a trolley leaves a position but is not operated on the return movement of the arm. A stop 58, Fig. 1, on track 22 is weighted to be raised to prevent reverse movement of a stopped trolley. When a trolley in the most forward position is released by manual release of latch 54 and ramp 49 and stop 53 are withdrawn so that dogs 26 engage and move the trolley, the trolley engages and raises roller 43 to raise arm 55 to engage latch 54 and so raise stop 53 and ramp 49; arm 42 operates the switch to actuate the actuator 57 in the next preceding position to release the next trolley, and so on.
