Abstract

1383214 Conveyer systems FMC CORP 27 March 1972 [5 April 1971] 14223/72 Heading B7L A conveyer system comprises a trolley 10 movable from a first line formed by channels 40, 41 to a second line 91 formed by channels 88, 89 through a transfer zone; a series of spaced pusher pins 20 carried by a powered chain 12 extending adjacent the first line; a drive pawl 30 on the trolley 10 for engagement by a pin 20 to advance the trolley; and a dog 56 pivotably mounted on the trolley 10 at 72, Fig. 12, rearwardly of the pawl 30 and movable to an upright operative position, which dog 56 when locked in its operative position is engaged by a pin 20 to push the trolley through the transfer zone after the pawl 30 has disengaged from the preceding pin 20. As shown in Figs. 3, 5, 10 and 12, the sequence of operations is: a locking cam 57 pivoted to the trolley 10 at 74 rides up lifting cams 76, 77 carried by the channels 40, 41, thus locking the dog 56 in its upright position; the pawl 30 moves out of engagement with a pusher pin 20; the following pin 20 engages the dog 56; a transverse bar 50b, of a pawl-actuating bellcrank 50 pivoted to the trolley 10 at 51, rides up cam plates 84, 85 carried by the channels 88; 89 in the transfer zone so that the pawl 30 is released to pivot under gravity out of the pusher pin path; the trolley 10 is pushed on to the second line 91 until the dog 56 is moved out of engagement with the pins 20 of chain 12; the cam plates 84, 85 terminate so that bellcrank 50 pivots under gravity and pivots pawl 30 into the path of pusher pins 20 on a'chain 92 which then drives the trolley 10 along the second line 91. Normally, i.e. when outside the transfer zone and therefore not locked by cam 57, the dog 56 is deflected when contacted by a pin 20 but pivots back to its upright position due to a counterweight portion 56c.
