Abstract

1,243,876. Stop mechanism for conveyers. GEO. W. KING Ltd. 1 May, 1970 [6 June, 1969], No. 28892/69. Heading B7L. A stop mechanism in a conveyer of the type having an upper track 16 supporting a drive chain provided with depending drive dogs and a lower track 12 supporting load trolleys, which trolleys are driven by engagement of depressible drive abutments mounted thereon with said drive dogs, comprises a stop member 20, slidably mounted and normally biased into an operative position by a spring 21, in which position the member engages the drive abutment of an approaching trolley to depress and disengage it from the associated drive dog. When it is required to release the trolley from the stop one arm of a pivotally mounted bellcrank lever 25 is moved into the path of the drive dogs by briefly energizing a solenoid 30, and when engaged by a drive dog, said arm rotates in an anticlockwise direction, Fig. 4, a cam roller 27, Fig. 2, provided on the underside of the other arm of said bell-crank which had previously passed freely over a pivotal dog 22 mounted on the stop member pushes the dog 22 and causes the member to retract, sliding out of engagement with, and thus releasing, the trolley drive abutment which is subsequently engaged by a drive dog. The stop member is retained in the retracted position by a plunger 34 until a rotatable arm 38 mounted on a shaft 37 is engaged by the trolley as it leaves the stop and releases the plunger allowing the stop member to assume its operative position. The plunger 34 is loaded by a spring 35 and is pivotally connected to an arm 36 fixed to the rotatable shaft 37 on the lower end of which shaft is mounted the arm 38. When the stop member is retracted the plunger engages in a recess provided in the member to retain it in a retracted position. When arm 38 is pivoted by the departing trolley the arm 36 rotates moving the plunger out of the recess and allowing the stop member to be urged into its operative position by the spring 21.
